Illinois Connection

Rabe lived in Kane County. She graduated with her Bachelors from National-Louis University, Masters from Columbia College in Chicago and attended graduate classes at Northern Illinois University and Roosevelt University.

Biographical and Professional Information

An author, lecturer and teacher, Berniece Rabe began her career as a model with the Patricia Stevens Model Agency in Chicago, Illinois. After her first child was born, she went back to school and became a teacher and tutor in special education classes. She was 40 years old when she began her writing career.

Rabe has written 17 books and has also contributed short stories to children's magazines, including Friend, Ensign, Cricket, and Childcraft; articles to World Book and Encyclopedia Britannica; and short stories to adult quarterlies. Author of Whillie the Masseuse (novella), published in MidAmerican Review, 1988.
