Biography: Dr. Michael F. Roizen is an internist and anesthesiologist. He has been continuously listed as one of the 1,000 Best Doctors in the United States. He is a Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Williams College (Williamstown, Massachusetts), and an Alpha Omega graduate of the University of California Medical School in San Francisco. Dr. Roizen completed a residency in internal medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, a tour of duty in the Yellow Beret of the Public Health Service at The National Institutes of Health in the lab of Irv Kopin and Nobel Prize Winner Julius Axelrod and an anesthesiology residency at UCSF. After 9 years on the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, Roizen started and served as medical director of the Chicago Program for Executive Health. He also chaired the top-10-rated department of anesthesia and critical care at the University of Chicago. He then became dean of the School of Medicine and vice president for biomedical sciences at SUNY Upstate. After serving as CEO of the Biotechnology Research Corporation of Central New York, Dr. Michael Roizen accepted positions as chief wellness officer of the Cleveland Clinic and as chair of the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine and Comprehensive Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic.Roizen continues to practice internal medicine and uses the RealAge measurement routinely to motivate patients in both his medical and preoperative practices to healthier behaviors.
