Let Us Live is the story of life in Hinders, a small coal-mining community in Illinois in the post-World War I era.

The town is filled with immigrants from all over the world.

From outhouses to water pumps, mine disasters to saloons, and hard-working shops to the red-light district, Hinders is home to a plethora of stories.

Balancing out miners' strikes and poverty are the youngsters, and their strong friendships and romances as they blend together in this mixed town.

Unique and yet classic, thoughtful and joyous, Let Us Live is a slice of American culture in all its diversity.
