Biographical and Professional InformationGeorge Kufrin is an award-winning free-lance photographer. He began his career at the age of 14 working as a photo-journalist for 22nd Ward's West Side News. When he was 16 years old, the Chicago Herald American bought his photograph of a huge lumber yard fire, running it full page and putting it on the International News Photos, Hearst wire service. Kufrin served two years as an Army photographer during the Korean war and spent his sixty plus year career traveling across the United States photographing politicians, movie stars, titans of industry, musicians and artists. Kufrin’s photos have appeared in the ''New York Times'', ''Fortune'', ''Parade'', ''New York'', ''Finance'', the ''Chicago Tribune Magazine'', ''New York News'' magazine, ''Chicago'', ''Downbeat'', ''Science'', ''Chicago Sun Times'', and countless Fortune 500 annual reports. In 1981, Kufrin's wife, writer Joan Kufrin, authored ''Uncommon Women''. His photographs illustrate the book. ''Lucky George: The Unforgettable Adventures of a Free-Lance Photographer'' is the title of his autobiography. The book is packed with Chicago history and Kufrin’s photographs, the book chronicles his career that took him across America, photographing the movers and shakers of his time.
