Wings was born and raised in Chicago. She studied at Shimer College when it was in Mount Carroll.

Biographical and Professional Information

Mary Wings is an author, artist and musician. She is best known for her series of detective novels featuring lesbian heroine Emma Victor. Born Mary Geller, she adopted the name, Mary Wings, in 1972. In 1973, Wings made history by releasing ''Come Out Comix'', the first lesbian underground comic book. Wings has also contributed to two anthologies, ''Murder for Mother'' and ''Vengeance is Hers''. She currently lives in San Francisco, California.
