Biographical and Professional Information

Sara F. Shacter began her career in children's publishing as a contributing editor of ASK, a nonfiction magazine published by the Cricket Magazine Group. Since then, she has written articles for magazines such as ASK, Click, Highlights for Children, and YES Mag: Canada's Science Magazine for Kids.

Having taught high school English for ten years, Sara enjoys educational publishing as well. She contributed articles to World Book's 2003 and 2004 Childcraft Annuals and served as a copy editor for the 2003 volume. In addition, Sara co-authored three teacher guides for Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. She is actively involved in the children's writing community as Assistant Regional Advisor for the Illinois chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). When not writing for children, Sara dabbles in stories for adults and has contributed to three anthologies.
