Biographical and Professional Information

Deb Olin Unferth is the author of six books. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and three Pushcart Prizes, and was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist. Her work has appeared in Granta, Harper's Magazine, McSweeney's, and The Paris Review.

She studied philosophy and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Colorado in Boulder. After college she began writing fiction while working at a women's homeless shelter in Chicago. She received an M.F.A. from Syracuse University, where she studied with George Saunders, Michael Martone, and Tobias Wolff.
