Carla Knorowski

Connection to Illinois: Knorowski is a native of Chicago. She was the CEO of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation in Springfield. A former managing director of the Chicago Humanities Festival, she earned her PhD in public policy and political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Biography: Carla Knorowski, Ph.D. is a leader, author, and cultural explorer. Through her work, volunteerism and philanthropy, she has brought about transformational change significantly and positively impacting the institutions she has served. As Senior Advancement Advisor for The Henry Ford, she engages philanthropists in support of large-scale, innovative, educational projects. Her latest book, Blessing My Mother's Rosary: Lourdes. Loss. Love. (ACTA Publications, 2024) is available now. Her first book, Gettysburg Replies achieved number one ranking on Amazon’s list of Civil War history books in 2015. She co-authored Under Lincoln’s Hat and contributed to Lincoln: An Intimate Portrait. Her writing has been published in Celebrated Living Magazine and The Chicago Tribune among other publications. She has appeared on CBS This Morning, public television’s Pritzker Military Library Presents and Chicago Tonight, as well as, NPR, C-Span and other news outlets. A cultural explorer, she is working on a number of memoir projects.
