Irwin St. John Tucker

Connection to Illinois: Itwin St. John Tucker lived and worked in Illinois most of his life. Irwin is the father of Illinois Author Ernest Tucker.

Biography: Clergyman, journalist, poet, and author. A journalist on the staff of the Chicago Herald-American for thirty years, Irwin Tucker was the paper's religion editor at the time of his retirement in 1954. The former literature director for the American Socialist party, he also contributed poetry, under the pseudonym Friar Tuck, to the Chicago Tribune.
