Mary R Dunn
Born: March 22, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky
Died: October 3, 2017 in Libertyville, Illinois Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: Dunn graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She lived in Northern Illinois. Biography: Mary Dunn taught students at the elementary and college levels. She retired as a faculty member of the English Department from the College of Lake County. She loved telling stories about her students. A prolific writer with a passion for literature, Mary authored over 30 non-fiction children's books. A frequent speaker at state, national, and international conferences on writing and literacy, Dunn was known as the ''Queen of Non-Fiction'' by some. She was a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the International Literacy Association, and Off-Campus Writers' Workshop.
