Born: 1963, in Elmhurst, Illinois
Connection to Illinois: Volker is a lifelong resident of Illinois. He was born in Elmhurst, raised in Lombard along the Illinois Prairie Path and in Princeton near the Hennepin Canal State Trail. He is a graduate of Princeton High School, Knox College in Galesburg and graduate school at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. He's lived in Chillicothe, La Salle, Peru and Ottawa.

Biography: Todd Volker has a passion for history and for the outdoors, and he combined these in writing The Complete Grand Illinois Trail Guidebook and the Starved Rock Almanac. These are about outdoor places in Illinois, and also about Illinois history.
