Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: Jan Berghoff, the wife of third-generation Herman Berghoff and the mother of Carlyn, owned and ran the historic ''Berghoff'' restaurant in Chicago, Illinois for many years. Biography: From 1973 to 1983, Jan and Herman Berghoff owned and ran the highly successful Tosi's restaurant in Stevensville, Michigan. They returned to Chicago, Illinois in 1986 to buy and run the ''Berghoff''. Jan was involved with food and menu development and Herman ran the business and management side of the restaurant. Jan and her daughter, Carlyn, wrote a cookbook with Nancy Ross Ryan filled with classic recipes and historical information about the family restaurant.
