Connection to Illinois: Eckhardt lives in Illinois. Biography: Lauren Eckhardt became addicted to writing at an early age, constantly gifting her stories to family, friends, and teachers. When she won her first Young Author's award for 'The Locker that Ate My Books' at 8 years old, she knew writing stories for other people was all she ever wanted to do. After finishing school with her Bachelor of Arts and MBA degrees and working in the human resources field for several years, she decided to return to her true passion: writing.
