Connection to Illinois: Dzierzbicki was born in Chicago. He was raised in Midlothian; moving there in 1961. In his mid twenties, he moved to Bensenville. Bolingbrook has been his home since 1989. Dzierzbicki attended Bremen high school and Moraine Valley Community college. Living in the northwest suburbs, he attended the College of DuPage. His studies were all over the board, electronics, woodworking, management and police science. His book is self help, leadership and somewhat technical. There are splatters of anecdotal and sometimes comical stories of his 45 years of fixing machines and people.

Biography: Mark Dzierzbicki worked at Xerox corporation as a technician in the mid seventies, later starting his own company featured in the Chicago Tribune business section March 20, 1989. During this time, he taught 'Office Machine Repair' at South Suburban College. He served as president of the Association of Field Service Managers and was a member of the first Board of the Illinois Turf Irrigation Association. For the last 25 years, he has operated and founded Controlled Irrigation & Backflow Inc. He maintains certifications and licenses in this industry and regularly gives presentations and seminars relating to the field service industry. His book, ''Would You Fly What You Fix?'', is more than a 'how to' manual. It presents his philosophical approach to service. It asks and answers questions like 'Why fix a bicycle with the same discipline as fixing an airplane?' all based on his 40+ years in the field service industry.
