Connection to Illinois: Born in Chicago and lived there most of her life. Earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Fine and Applied Arts in music education and English. Received her Master of Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Was a music supervisor in several Chicago suburbs and has also been a member of the English and history faculty at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL.

Biography: Farley has been a visiting lecturer in children's literature at the College of Education, University of Illinois at Chicago and at the National-Louis University. She has presented workshops for teachers and children at many schools. Mrs. Farley made a study of Illinois writers of children's books in which she interviewed 135 writers.
