Biography: Stanley E. Harris is a professor of geology at SIUC starting in 1949. Harris was an exchange professor in geology at the University of Hamburg, Germany; he was a research geologist for the Iowa Geological Survey from 1942 to 1948, and for the Illinois Geological Survey from 1950 to 1961. In 1978 Harris received a grant which he shared witht he Forestry Department from the U.S. Department of the Interior for a two year project on an 'Inventory and Evaluation of Ecological and Geological Landmarks of the East Central lowlands,' including Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, parts of Pennsylvania and New Yorkm, and Illinois.
