Biography: Henry Regnery was an author as well as the founder and former president of Henry Regnery Publishing Co. His Chicago-based firm published many of the most prominent post-World War II conservative writers, including: William F. Buckley Jr., Russell Kirk, Arthur Nock, James J. Kilpatrick, Mortimer Smith, Louis Budenz and William Henry Chamberlin.At the same time, he also was publishing many Chicago authors including George Ade, Hamlin Garland, Norma Lee Browning, Mike Royko, Bob Greene and nature writer Leonard Dubkin. Regnery Publishing books on the city included: 'Trumbull Park,' a controversial novel about an effort to integrate Chicago public housing; 'Lonely Warrior,' a biography of the founder of the Chicago Defender; and 'Vittles and Vice,' a volume that combined stories of the city's gangsters with recipes from its best restaurants.
