Pen Name: None Connection to Illinois: Biography: Although he is chiefly known as a film critic, Canby has wrote a well-received novel. His career included working for the Chicago Journal of Commerce in Chicago as an assistant to the drama editor. He wored as a critic and reporter for the Motion Picture Herald-Motion Picture Daily, and was also a critic for the New York Times.
