Biography: Manushkin received her B.A. in education from Chicago Teacher's College. After graduation, she moved to New York City. There, she worked in the children's book department of Harper & Row for ten years. After becoming a junior editor where she soon discovered she enjoyed writing and her first book ''BABY'' (later titled ''BABY, COME OUT!'') was published in 1972. Since then, Manushkin has written many many books.
