Robert Forrest Barnes

Connection to Illinois: Barnes was born in Michigan but since infancy have lived in Illinois, first in Elwood then Batavia. Educated in Batavia then at Michigan State University, he received his medical degree at the University of Illnois College of Medicine. His book is a historical account of the first settler of Kane County Illinois, Batavia, and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was Christopher Payne an early pioneer and Indian fighter, who died a broken old man in Wisconsin where he is burried.

Biography: Robert Forrest Barnes serves as Historian for the Batavia Historical Society.
